Style Theory: The trench, a classic Spring staple, endlessly useful to throw over layers in the colder months and as spring arrives, the perfect chic coat to wear over a dressed down outfit, it instantly creates a chic look.
The trench has been reinvented in many guises over the years and this year it was this Marks and Spencer Limited Edition trench that really caught my eye..

I adore the over size, puff sleeves, they create drama and interest, the trapeze cut along with the huge pleat at the back of the coat makes it look elegant and sophisticated. I love a trench dressed down with a hoody and jeans but added a pair of heels for a slightly more chic look. I sized down - I am wearing a size 6 so have sized down two sizes.

These Marks and Spencer shoes are so comfy, I bought a similar pair from M&S a few years ago and have worn them so many times. They are flattering on my legs and the heels are high but because they have M&S's famous insolia in the soles they are comfortable and easy to walk in. I have quite thin (but big) feet, I sized down half a size and they fit well, the first strap is a teeny but wide but it does not really notice. These shoes work with everything from floral dresses to baggy distressed boyfriend jeans and at £35 they are money well spent. The bag is huge with a popper at the top, the perfect bag to throw loads in for a day shopping/out with the kids and also pretty good for taking to the beach on summer holiday.
If you fancy a more dramatic look, this gingham trench looks pretty amazing on, again I would size down I do find M&S coats come up big..

Wear this trench with ankle length jeans, a white broderie anglaise blouse and a pair of white supergas for a chic Spring look.
M&S £45 |
This is another fab trench (I have this too) I sized down one size on this and to make it look a little more individual I always use my own belt - I have a wide-ish dark red one that looks fab and makes it look a little more dressy.

These are insanely comfortable shoes, super soft leather and feel like slippers, really really beautiful.
M&S £89 |
This bag caught my eye when I was in store, soft leather, slouchy and looks so much more expensive than M&S..chic and classy.
Are you a fan of the trench, which style is your favourite? As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Fran xx
